Cranleigh Recruitment Solutions is a specialised scientific and renewable recruitment agency based in Cranleigh. They have four members of staff and the waste produced by the office is mostly paper and cardboard. In 2007 they were interested in looking for an alternative to landfill but had not been able to find any viable solution. They spoke to Julia Brown from Green Office Consulting who runs the Cranleigh Business Recycling scheme and discussed different collection options available with her. Having considered the volumes that they produce it was agreed that they should initially have a monthly collection of paper and cardboard and then review things with Julia after the first couple of months.
Soon after they started recycling with the local business recycling scheme they were able to stop the normal refuse collections from the office. There was obviously a cost saving in stopping the refuse collections and they now have no waste going to landfill.
They have found the system flexible and very easy to use and Julia always responds and deals with any issues promptly. In 2008 Cranleigh Recruitment diverted more than 900kgs of office waste away from landfill by recycling it. Garry Emmett of Cranleigh Scientific says:
